Plans, limits & data retention
What each plan includes, what happens when you hit a limit, and exactly how upgrades, downgrades and data retention work.
Billing is handled by Stripe. You can change or cancel your plan at any time under Plan & Billing in the panel’s sidebar — the page shows your current plan with live usage bars (active links, tracked clicks this month, branded domains — amber when you’re near a cap) and the plan picker right below. This guide spells out exactly what happens when you change anything, so there are no surprises.
WordPress links and the limit: links served by your own WordPress site are unlimited and free — they only use a plan slot while their Monitor toggle is on (see the WordPress plugin guide). “Active links” = links AffKeeper takes care of: every panel link plus your monitored WordPress links.

What happens at a limit
You can never silently go over a limit — and nothing you created is ever deleted:
-
Links / domains — when you’re at the cap, creating a new link or domain is blocked (with an upgrade prompt). Links and domains within your plan always keep working.
-
Links over the cap (after a downgrade or an expired subscription) follow a clear, fixed timeline — we don’t run links for plans that aren’t paid for:
- Days 1–30 (grace): everything keeps redirecting; we email you.
- Days 31–60 (paused): your least-clicked links over the limit stop redirecting — visitors see a short “this link is paused” notice. The links stay on your list.
- After day 60: links still paused are permanently deleted and their short addresses are released back into the pool.
At any point before deletion, fitting your plan again — upgrading, renewing, or deleting enough links — lifts every pause instantly. Links within your plan are never touched.
-
Tracked clicks — clicks over the monthly cap are still redirected normally; your visitors never notice anything. The overflow clicks just aren’t recorded in analytics. The counter resets at the start of each month — and only real clicks count: bot, datacenter and click-farm traffic is filtered out and never eats your allowance.
-
Analytics history — charts and stats reach back at most as far as your plan’s window.
Upgrades
Take effect immediately. Before anything is charged you see the exact amount: the prorated price of the new plan for the rest of the current period, minus credit for the time you already paid for on the old plan. Your card on file is charged when you confirm.
Downgrades
Nothing is charged and nothing changes today: you keep the plan you paid for until the end of the current billing period, then the new plan starts. Before you confirm, we show you exactly what the smaller plan means for your account:
- Links or domains over the new limit keep working for 30 days; after the grace period the least-clicked links over the cap are paused, and links still paused after another 30 days are deleted (full timeline above). You can’t create new ones until you’re back under the cap.
- A shorter analytics window means older click history will no longer be visible.
30-day retention grace
When a downgrade (or an expired subscription) shrinks your analytics window, the older data is not deleted immediately. We keep it untouched for 30 days — if you upgrade back within that time, your full history is still there. After the grace period, data older than your current plan’s window is deleted permanently.
Cancelling
Cancel any time (Plan & Billing, or the Stripe billing portal). Your paid plan stays fully active until the end of the period you already paid for — then the account moves to the Free plan. Links within the Free limits keep redirecting; anything over them follows the pause-and-delete timeline above. No refunds for partial periods, per our Terms.
Failed payments
If a renewal charge fails, we email you immediately and Stripe retries the card over the following days. Your plan keeps working during the retries. If payment can’t be collected, the subscription is cancelled and the account moves to Free (with the same 30-day retention grace).
Billing emails you’ll get
- A reminder before each renewal with the exact amount and date
- A heads-up the first time you hit your monthly click limit (once per month) — links keep working, but analytics stop recording until the counter resets or you upgrade
- A confirmation whenever your plan changes (upgrade, downgrade, checkout)
- A payment-failed notice with a link to fix your card
- A cancellation confirmation with the date your plan ends
Invoices are always available under Plan & Billing → Manage billing & invoices.
